Date & Time: Saturday 10/28/2017 2-4pm

Location: Oliva Gallery, Chicago

“The multifaceted but faceless bodies, washed upon the shore, with each footprint, appearing and fading; this is where refugees begin yet another chapter of their exodus. Through working with the images and reflections upon immigrant stories, I move the dynamic struggles and inquiries of ever shifting displacement realities of ‘Who am I?’ ‘Where am I going?’ and ‘How do I survive?’ “

My “Bodies upon the Shore”, a solo work in response to refugee stories and in reflection of immigration issues, identity, landing place, community, collective trauma, and concept of home debuted at Oliva Gllery along with Enid Smith.

Red Fern unfurling – Thawall In-Session (Part I)

Date & Time: Wednesday 5/10/2017, 6-7pm

Location: Navy Pier, Chicago

The red fabric unfurled gradually as the mover spirals this and that way over an extended period of time, it creates a sense of anticipation, an illusion of time, and the non-startling yet wonderous visual effect. Just like when we finally have the privilege to witness the flower blossom while it was just a bud a few minutes ago, in the expansion of timelessness; every time we turn around it unfurls an inch, every time we return its tone and shape shift. It is generous, it is gracious. The organic growing plants become our zen master to teach us the ease and the cycle of all living being.

Steeping Pace – LinkUP Residency 2015

Date & Time: Friday-Saturday 9/25-9/27 7pm

Location: Links Hall, Chicago

Stepping Pace cultivates warmth, tenderness, and curiosity. Like the precious moment we get to enjoy a nice good cup of tea on a weekday afternoon, when everyone around us is continuously swirled by life responsibilities. Through inquiring into a series of senses, feelings, and connections that are often lost or overwhelmed by everyday stimuli, we practice through movement to be patient with the slow steeping pace but the rich and luscious flavor that eventually emerges from it. Steeping Pace guides us to reexamine our habitual ways of living and breathing, returning us to the fundamental naturalness that we so desire but fear to engage.

Rehearsal improv – August 8, 2013

Location: Columbia College Chicago, 916 S Wabash building

A limited spatial concept and how the audience are forced to watch what they can they can see. What do they see then, I wonder? Or what would they want to see? I have been observing “the people on the street” in any way (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory…) I can, trying to get a sense of how they see the world moving pass them day after day, and how they are seen by the pedestrians in return. Still in a wondering phase, but it there are so many curiosities that I cannot stop wanting to really TOUCH it-the core of the question and their life, so to speak. First experiment, not sure what it is yet. Onward, onward.
